Hello! My name is Guigo Sortica. I am 39 years old and I live in Porto Alegre, the capital city of the state of Rio Grande do Sul, in southern Brazil. I own a dance studio that specializes in Bachata, Samba, Zouk, Kizomba and West Coast Swing. I have been teaching for over 20 years and am an All Star in WCS. My newest passion is helping students learn how to fuse WCS-Zouk. That is what I hope to share with YOU at The Event Center on Saturday, Feb 26th.
I have had the privilege of teaching in Michigan, D.C., Arizona, New Jersey, Florida and Illinois and I am very excited to add Los Angeles to the list now! I hope you will join me and my friend, Bella Viramontes in Moorpark on SUNDAY, Feb 27th for our Zouk / Kizomba Intensive. We’re going to have a great time and I look forward to meeting new dancers in your area.
What is Kizomba and Zouk?
Kizomba is a slow, smooth, sensual partner dance in which the torso and right arm of the leader guides the follower across the dance floor. The goal to synchronize perfectly as a couple with the music and express it through elegant footwork, smooth body movement and attitude.
The most characteristic feature of [Brazilian] Zouk is the follower’s upper body movements which are led out of axis by intricate leading and following techniques. Other features include body isolations, tilted turns and more recently counter-balance techniques. Brazilian Zouk is a dance with well defined basic steps and rhythmic patterns.
If you have any questions, please call/text H.A. Schiavone at (805) 732-4622, or Bella Viramontes at (805) 404-1003. We look forward to seeing you there.
