The Language of Dance

This workshop is learning to dance de-mystified!
There are 5 basic elements of dance – walking, side steps, triple steps, rock steps, and tap steps. Think of these as the LETTERS of the language of dance.
We combine these letters to form WORDS – i.e. the individual dances in ballroom (Waltz, Foxtrot, Rumba, etc).
The words (individual dances) are the “what” of dance.
The “how” is defined by the timing, style and technique we layer on top of the basic elements which determines how the dance looks. For example: waltz and rumba are the same steps, however it is the timing and style we layer on top which gives each dance its distinct look.
In this workshop, Katie will teach the basic elements of Foxtrot, Waltz, American Tango, Salsa, Rumba, Cha Cha, and East Coast Swing. You don’t want to miss this FUN, practical approach to learning the Language of Dance! It’s the perfect way to start!
