Brian Barakauskas

Brian Barakauskas has a professional dance career in American Rhythm, West Coast Swing and Country 2-Step spanning 18+ years. He is qualified Master & Superstar level UCWDC dancer and the winningest Superstar competitor in UCWDC history. In early 2017, Brian was inducted into the UCWDC Hall of Fame. Brian is the Director of Derby City Swing held annually in Louisville, Kentucky, and is the owner of WCS Online – the #1 resource for online WCS training videos.

Megan Anderson

Megan had an impressive amateur competitive dance career, competing with great success in all four styles of Ballroom and Latin as well as Country 2-Step, Line Dance and West Coast Swing. Megan began her PROFESSIONAL career with a bang by winning the 2015 UCWDC Pro Female World Championship and three “Top 3” finishes in the Masters Division at UCWDC World Championships.

3:30  – 5:00 pm     Intermediate Country 2-Step with UCWDC Champions Brian & Megan

Goals of this workshop are to develop a consistent way to lead and follow; improve your connection and balance; learn to avoid awkward transitions; and deepen your understanding of 2-Step. This will be beneficial for social dancers or prospective competitors alike!

Elements Include:
• Improved Spins, Turns and Balance.
• Changing Direction with an emphasis on better balance and improved speed.
• Understanding High Level Lead and Followed.
• Weaves.
• Improve the Patterns You Already Know.

5:00 – 6:00 pm  In-House Catered Dinner

6:00  – 7:30 pm     Fine-Tuning for Experienced Westies

Sometimes, making small adjustments is all that’s needed to achieve more control, sharper precision or better performance. In this workshop, we will focus on key areas of WCS that always benefit from a little fine-tuning.

Elements Include:
• Spin Technique and Drills
• What Makes A Great Leader?
• Dance & Play – Adding shape and styling to your dance including competition flair!

*Experienced West Coast Swing dancers should, at a minimum, know basic 6 and 8 count patterns, know
the basic rhythm of the triple, and be able to lead or follow basic patterns safely and proficiently.
